An Indian website «Timesofindia» reported that the World Championship match Anand — Gelfand in 2012 will be held in Chennai (this phrase was even put in the title). This information was picked up by some Russian news websites. However, it is not accurate. As it became known to the Chess-News, India has filed an application for a match. However, the deadline for applications is July 31, and prior to that date the decision on the venue cannot be made. After July 31 FIDE will consider all proposals and will announce the decision.

We would like to remind that earlier the application was filed by Russia. Andrei Filatov expressed his willingness to sponsor the match.
