Classical chess still has resources, — believes Sergey Karjakin

In an interview to the newspaper «Sport-Express» Russian GM Sergey Karjakin, who shared the 1-2 places with Magnus Carlsen in the recent tournament in Bazna, suggested that classical chess still has resources:

— They are not depleted completely. For example, look at the tournament in Bazna: the number of wins and losses was very high! It all depends on the format of the tournament. … Sometimes it is more interesting to play with shorter time controls, but still rapid and blitz should not exclude  classical chess. For example, in Bazna I won a beautiful game against Ivanchuk, and if this would be a rapid chess, I would not have found a winning combination. In rapid chess games quality suffers, and there's nothing you can do about it.
